The Note That Changed Everything: A School Story of Love and Jealousy
Oliver was rifling through his backpack like usual when he spotted a weird little folded-up note tucked between his books. He carefully unfolded it, and his heart skipped a beat.
“Hey! I really like you. If you wanna meet up, I’ll be waiting behind the school at four.”
He was shocked—completely thrown off. No clue who could’ve left it. But curiosity won out, and at exactly four, he was there. Then, suddenly… he saw Emily. The quiet, shy new girl.
“Was this you?” he asked carefully.
“What?” She looked genuinely confused. “Me? No way!”
“Then why are you here? You’re… waiting for me, right?”
“Well… Sophie told me you liked me…” Emily mumbled, flushing bright red.
Oliver frowned. Things were getting weirder by the second.
The Move That Changed Everything
Emily had moved across town when her parents bought a bigger house. Sure, the place was nicer, but her old school was miles away now. Her parents insisted: if there was a school right down the road, she was going there.
Emily fought it hard. Starting fresh in Year 10, when everyone already had their tight-knit groups? Terrifying. But no one listened.
“You’ll make friends!” her mum said. “You’re such a sociable girl!”
Except she wasn’t. Emily always struggled with people. And at her new school, she just… didn’t fit.
At first, kids were curious about the new girl, but she was too shy—short answers, avoiding eye contact. Soon, they left her alone.
Emily didn’t mind. She was different. Quiet, watchful. Secretly, she’d been watching one boy—Oliver. Funny, outgoing, everyone’s favourite.
She liked him. A lot. But the idea of actually talking to him? Impossible.
Jealousy in the Halls
Sophie noticed. Confident, popular—she’d had feelings for Oliver forever, but they were just friends.
Seeing Emily sneak glances at him? It annoyed her. So she decided to put the new girl in her place.
“Let’s mess with her,” she told her friends. “We’ll slip Oliver a fake love note, then tell Emily he likes her. Watch her embarrass herself!”
Her friends hesitated but agreed. Sophie sidled up to Emily, all fake sweetness.
“Hey… I heard Oliver likes you. Want me to check if it’s true?”
Emily’s face lit up. That just made Sophie angrier.
“He’ll ask you to meet him,” she said. “Behind school, at four. Don’t tell anyone, okay?”
“Okay,” Emily whispered, equal parts thrilled and terrified.
The Twist No One Saw Coming
Next day, Sophie slipped the note into Oliver’s bag. He read it—confused but intrigued.
He showed up. And there was Emily.
“This was you?”
“No… I heard you…”
Oliver figured it out instantly. He sighed. He knew Sophie’s games.
But Emily—she’d come. So maybe…?
“If you’re here… does that mean you like me?” He grinned.
Emily went scarlet. She wanted to bolt. But Oliver stopped her.
“Since we’re both here… wanna walk home together?”
Sophie, watching from around the corner with her phone out, froze. This wasn’t the plan. Not at all.
Worst of all? Next day, Oliver and Emily walked into class… together. Laughing. Sat next to each other.
The Aftermath
“You did this to spite me, didn’t you?” Sophie cornered Oliver at break.
“Nah. You introduced us—thanks, honestly. We get on great.”
Sophie refused to believe it. She waited for it to fizzle out. For the joke to land.
But months passed. They stayed together. Left school. Got engaged.
And only then did Sophie finally accept it—her little prank had backfired.
The lesson?
Before you scheme or mock—think. Sometimes fate has a way of fixing things itself.
