Piano prodigy Ryan Wang delivered a unique private concert for 101-year-old Dorothy Landry, months after captivating audiences on “The Ellen Show” and performing at Carnegie Hall. This heartfelt performance, organized by Canadian digital music distributor CBC Music, featured 5-year-old Ryan playing “Variations on an Inner Mongolian Folk Song” exclusively for Landry.
Dorothy, a fan of Ryan since he was three, struggled to fully appreciate his concerts due to her hearing impairment. To give her a more intimate musical experience, CBC Music arranged this special private performance.
In a small room, Dorothy sat in her wheelchair while Ryan, looking very young and holding a huge teddy bear, sat next to her. Bouncing on his feet, Ryan expressed how much it meant to play for “Grandma Dorothy.” Her face lit up with joy at the impact of his performance.
In return, Dorothy called Ryan a “very special little person” and shared her excitement for his future performances. She asked Ryan to visit her again after his upcoming trip to China and thanked him warmly.
This unique musical connection beautifully exemplifies the power of intergenerational bonds and music’s universal language.
