Your dog attacked my daughter! shouted a woman. When we checked the security camera footage, we saw something horrifying.
An angry stranger barged into our garden, clutching a little girl around six years old who was crying and holding her stomach. A scratch was clearly visible.
I froze. Rocky, my dog, was sitting quietly in the garden, wagging his tail happily. Wed had him for nearly five yearshe was clever, gentle, and had never hurt anyone. The accusations seemed completely unbelievable.
The woman screamed as if a wild beast lived in our home. Shed already called the police and demanded the rabid dog be put down immediately.
Shaking, I tried to stay calm and said,
My dog would never do such a thing. Hes friendly and adores children. Maybe her daughter had provoked him. We can check the backyard camera footage together. Everythings recorded there.
The police agreed, and we went inside. The camera, mounted right above the door, had captured the whole gardenand the so-called crime scene.
Then we watched the video and were stunned.
The truth was nothing like the womans story. The girl had been playing in the backyard when she suddenly ran into the streetright under the wheels of a passing car.
In that split second, Rocky dashed after her, grabbed her clothes, and yanked her to safety.
The woman, seeing the dog clutch her daughter, had assumed he was attacking. The girl, terrified, had screamed and trembled, unaware shed been saved.
When the mother watched the footage, she gasped. She realised her daughter was only alive because of Rocky.
Relieved and grateful, she turned to us, thanking our dog sincerely and apologising for her hasty accusations. Her view of Rocky flipped completelyno longer a savage animal, but a true hero.
