Ever since Max started working at his new job, he used to go fishing with his friends every week, as if he needed to relax after such hard work. Rebecca never sat still either. And one weekend, when Max came home, he found his wife in bed, not in the kitchen as usual.
The thing is, Rebecca has so many things to do on weekdays, and on weekends she tries to prepare as much food as possible in advance, but this time she was just lying in the bedroom in front of the TV. The refrigerator was empty, the apartment was not cleaned.
– “When I don’t come home from work, you just lie there all the time! Maybe you at least fed your husband? Is it so hard to get up and do something?” Max’s commanding voice sounded.
– “It’s not hard for you, so today you get up and cook something.
All day long Rebecca had a terrible headache and could hardly get out of bed, she would have loved to have a snack, but she had no energy to cook anything. And then Max got angry and started yelling at the whole apartment.
– “Tell me, why do I need a wife who can’t even cook for me? I came home tired, and you’ve been lying around all day?
Rebecca barely got up and went to the bedroom. The angry husband continued to harass her, but now she could hear his yelling less. What disappointed her the most was that he didn’t even ask what was wrong with her, but just started arguing.
The next day, she felt better, but her thoughts did not leave her. She could not understand how she lived with a man who did not appreciate her at all. Thoughts and memories overlapped. She had even woken up earlier to prepare lunch and breakfast for him in the unit, and he did not appreciate it, as if it was the way things were supposed to be.
The next morning, she woke up even later than her husband, who was sitting there drinking coffee, not even bothering to make himself breakfast.
– You know, I thought, you really don’t need such a wife, and I don’t need such a husband. Our son is already an adult, he lives his own life, and it’s time for us to move on. Let’s exchange this apartment for two and move out. I felt so bad yesterday and I was waiting for you as a rescue, and you didn’t even ask what was wrong with me… But why talk about it if we’re going to be strangers soon?
Max could not believe his ears, he began to dissuade his wife, to promise her that he would not do it again and would be more attentive, but she looked at him as if he were a stranger. Would these conversations help if he wasn’t there for her in her time of need?
