We wanted to cheer up our son, so we surprised him with a puppy. But the moment we stepped inside, the little dog suddenly lunged at his favourite plush toy and began tearing into it with wild fury. We were about to scold himuntil we saw what was hidden inside the shredded remains. Our blood ran cold.
Just days before, wed adopted the little pup from a shelter, certain hed bring nothing but joy and warmth to our home.
But as soon as he crossed the threshold, he froze, ears pricked, staring distrustfully into the dim hallway before letting out a low growl. Without warning, he bolted into the living room, as if driven by some unseen danger.

At first, we thought he was just being stubborn, trying to assert himself. But when we tried to pull the ruined toy from his jaws and caught a glimpse of what lay inside, ice shot down our spines.
