Veronika overheard her aunt and her daughter criticizing the things she had brought to them. She stood there, not knowing how to react.

Veronika knew that her aunt had some financial difficulties. She was raising two children – a boy and a girl – alone, so Veronika’s mom always helped them. One day, she called her daughter and asked her to look through her things to see if there were any that she no longer wore. She asked her to bring them to her aunt. Veronika was finally supposed to have a day off, but she didn’t want to upset her mother, she knew that the whole weekend would be spent on this task, but she didn’t say anything. Veronika lived about 100 kilometers away from her aunt and mom, but since she had her own car, she didn’t think much about the distance.

And so when she stayed at home, she started going through things to see what she could give away, there were a lot of things, but she tried to collect those that were almost new, but she just didn’t wear them because of the size or color, for example. And so, she gathered two huge bags of beautiful things, including branded ones, and went to the village to visit her family. Her aunt greeted her very well, and when Veronika showed them the things, they began to go through them. By their expressions, she realized that they didn’t like anything, but of course she didn’t say anything. And when she left the room to go to the toilet, she accidentally became an indirect witness to the conversation between her aunt and her daughter, who were simply criticizing the things Veronika had brought, saying that she could have brought normal things.

Of course, she was hurt by this, but she decided to keep silent so that a quarrel wouldn’t start. And when she went to her mom, she asked if she liked the clothes. Veronika didn’t say anything, she changed the subject, she didn’t want to spoil the mood of herself and her mother. She went back to her aunt to say goodbye, and when she heard her being thrown mud, she said nothing, took her things in silence and left. When she got to her house, her mother called and asked what had happened and why she had taken her things back. That’s when Veronika told her everything. Her mother was very surprised, but supported her, saying that she had done the right thing.
