I was driving with my son from the mall. Next to me stood a woman with a child who was practically the same age as my son.
The bus was full of people. I saw a young guy listening to music on his headphones and asked him to give up his seat. He immediately got up and I and my son sat down. My son even gave him a candy as a thank you. He was embarrassed and smiled.
And then I noticed that the mom decided to repeat my trick. She literally started pulling some man by the scruff of the neck, who was driving and dozing. He wasn’t responding through sleep, so the mommy turned to yelling. The man took off his earpiece and started to get indignant. He didn’t understand what was going on at all.
– Can’t you see I’m with a little kid? Make way! – She screamed so loudly that even her son started to cry in fright.
– And I don’t want to give way! – The man took a stand.
And you know, I support him, and I understand why he did what he did. He did not owe her anything! Moreover, he does not deserve such a humiliating and insulting attitude in his address. I suggested to her that her boy sit next to mine. But no – for her it was more important to make a scandal.
You know, I’ve never done anything like that. If there’s a need, I’ll ask nicely. If they give way to a child, thank you very much. If they don’t – I understand, too, because it’s their choice. But in all these years I have never been refused.
Probably because I never yell or scream at people I don’t know.
