As a child, Nancy was always scared of the fact that her grandparents’ house was right next to the cemetery. It was especially scary in the evening and at night. If by chance a crow would start cawing or the wind would pick up, Nancy would start crying. Now Nancy on the contrary liked that there are no neighbors nearby. Their neighbors are noisy, some are drunkards. And here at her grandparents’ house everything is always quiet and calm.
One night Nancy’s grandmother called and crying told her that her grandfather was gone. He died at night, he did not suffer, his heart just stopped. After the funeral, Nancy stayed with her grandmother for a while. Her health was deteriorating sharply, her blood pressure was skyrocketing, she was worried about the death of her husband.
In the evenings Nancy read fairy tales to her grandmother. They watched TV together, now Nancy baked her favorite pies for her grandmother, and not vice versa. One evening her grandmother asked Nancy to read her a story longer.
A strong wind rose outside, it seemed to start raining. And then Grandma said to Nancy:
– Your grandfather will come now, open the door for him.
– Grandma, what are you talking about … how can grandpa come?
– Nancy, don’t be afraid, he will come for me. He loves you, he won’t do anything bad.
At that moment, someone knocked on the door. Nancy went to the door with trembling legs and opened it. Strangely, there was no one on the threshold. The girl returned to her grandmother’s bed. But she was already lying without breath. It turned out that the grandfather really came and took the grandmother with him. She died the same way as her husband. Calmly, without suffering. With a difference of two weeks. They could not live without each other, so now they are well.
