The bus trundled along its usual route when a dog suddenly appeared out of nowhere and began running alongside it. Everyone was stunned when they discovered the reason.
Every morning, it followed the same paththe yellow double-decker, Route 318. The driver, a steady man named Thomas Whitmore, was always punctual, always reliable. The road wound through open countryside, straight and free from traffic. The passengers were nearly always the samesome commuting to work, others heading into town for errands, and a few just enjoying the ride, gazing out the windows.
Everything seemed ordinary. Thomas looked relaxed, the radio humming softly in the background. The sun shone, the morning crisp and bright. Passengers chatted idly, a few dozed, others scrolled through their phones.
Thenout of nowherea dog darted onto the road.
A golden retriever, large and shaggy, with a glossy coat and astonishing speed. It ran alongside the bus at first, then began weaving erratically, as if trying to signal something. Its ears flapped, tongue lolling.
The bus came alive. Someone stood up. A young man by the window pulled out his phone to film. A woman in glasses laughed, Look! That dogs racing the bus!
Mustve lost its owner, muttered an elderly gentleman.
But something wasnt right.
The dog suddenly surged ahead, sprinting in front of the bus before planting itself firmly in the road, barking and growling fiercely. Thomas had no choicehe slammed the brakes. Tyres screeched, the bus lurched to a halt.
Whats happening?
Whys it acting like that?
It wont let us pass! someone exclaimed.
The doors hissed open, and a few passengers stepped out, cautiously approaching the dog. It didnt retreatjust stood there, watching them.
Then it happeneda deafening **BOOM.**
The explosion flung the bus skyward, flames erupting, windows shattering. Those whod stepped outside survived. Shock. Screams. Someone dropped to their knees. Another clasped their hands over their mouth.
They were mere metres from death.
And the dog it didnt run. It stayed, as if it *knew.*
Thomas, trembling, fumbled for his phone, staring at the wreckage. It saved us but from *what*? Who did this?
The police launched an investigationwho had planted the bomb? And how had the dog *known*?
In the end, the lesson was clear: sometimes, the most unexpected heroes come on four paws. Trust instincts, even when they seem impossible.
