Sixteen Years Later, the Birth Mother of My Children Suddenly Appeared and Told Them She Was Their Real Mum—My Children’s Reaction Left Me Completely Bewildered

I married David eighteen years ago. His story is quite a sad one, all because of his ex-wife, who abandoned him and their children to run off with her lover. David and Anna married for love, and Anna gave birth to two lovely children: a boy named Thomas and a girl named Emily. When Thomas was four and Emily three, David lost his job. It was a difficult period for the family. Anna did her best to find work, scraping together enough to feed the children. David, meanwhile, took to spending his days drinking with his mates in the shed, doing nothing apart from moaning about the government and feeling sorry for himself.

Anna became thoroughly worn out; and just then, a wealthy man began courting her. She couldnt resist the temptation, and she leftwalking out on both David and their children to be with her new partner. Thomas and Emily were left on their own, fed and cared for by kindly neighbours who did their best to look after them. During all this, David was still in the shed with his friends and didnt even notice at first that Anna had gone. By the time he realised, it was too late; the children had been taken into care.

I met David at a wedding of mutual friends and took to him immediately. We started talking, and I put my all into helping him see life differently and get his head straight.

After our wedding, I suggested that we bring the children home from the care home. I cant have children myself, and I felt for them deeply. From the moment they entered our house, I treated them as if they were my own, and they quickly grew to love me in return. Now, eighteen years have passed. The children never suspected that I wasnt their real mother.

Then, out of the blue, Anna resurfaced in our lives. She met with Thomas and Emily and revealed that she was their biological mother. Thomas took the news calmly, telling her that as far as he was concerned, I was his only mum. Emily was warmer, forgiving Anna almost at once. At first, I wasnt keen on them seeing her again, remembering how heartlessly Anna had acted once before. But I can understand her guilt and her wish to make amends to the children. Ive decided to support her in thisafter all, the woman who gives birth and the one who raises you can both be mothers. My children are lucky enough to have two.
