Of course, if children have been raised well, they will want to help and care for their parents as a sign of gratitude and great love. But if the children don’t, perhaps it’s the parents themselves who raised the mentally handicapped. But what if we are talking about serious intensive care and not just simple visits?
It should be noted that caring for the elderly is very hard work and not just physical. It’s very hard on a person’s psyche. Not everyone can cope with a sick relative alone. And as it happens, children have their own families, work and need to find time for their parents.
Perhaps what I am about to tell you will seem strange and even wild, but children can help their parents, and care for them should be specially designed for that purpose. There are special institutions for that. And if you don’t want to send them there, you can hire caregivers. After all, in old age, when dementia begins, old people can forget to close the door, lose something, get lost, mix up their groceries, and children do not have the opportunity to be around 24 hours a day.
Unfortunately, not everyone has enough money for a caregiver, so they try to help their parents on their own and often to the detriment of their personal lives. After all, in the Soviet Union, they always said that children should take care of their parents because they gave them life.
Someone wrote in the comments that there were special neighborhoods for the elderly. I decided to check this information and it turned out to be true.
It’s a wonderful thing. They can go to rest, communicate with each other, exchange news and recipes. There are places to rest. There are panic buttons and a nurse on duty everywhere. Medical care is guaranteed. And if relatives want to visit them, there are special lodges.
But information was found that more than half of Russians are against the construction of such camps. They believe that relatives should take care of their parents themselves.
