She Will Never Have a Place in My Life!

There is no place for her in my life, and there never will be! Today, I decided to speak out. I don’t seek sympathy or advice – I simply need to rid myself of this burden in my heart. I know what I have been through, and despite the pain and betrayal, I will continue to live with my head held high. Because I loved sincerely.

I met Emily four years ago at a fair in Brighton. She was only there for a couple of days, but that was enough for a spark to ignite between us. It felt like something out of a film – long conversations, laughter, and tender glances. After two months, she decided to move in with me, leaving her life in London behind.

Both of us were divorced and had experienced betrayal. I had no contact with my ex-wife, while she was detached from her ex-husband. Emily spoke of how he had ruined her life, how he manipulated their daughter against her. We both carried the weight of past dramas, and it felt like we had finally found a calm, mature love.

I was happy. She, however, was not. I loved her deeply. No one had ever cared for me like she did. We started living together and planned our future. Love at a mature age is something special. You know what you want, cherish the moments, and live consciously.

But life had another blow in store for me, one I could never have anticipated.

Betrayal
In early July, we went on holiday together for the first time – to the south, to Skegness. The beach, sunshine, long walks along the pier… I was certain everything was wonderful.

But suddenly, I discovered that her ex-husband and daughter, along with their two-year-old granddaughter, were also holidaying nearby in a different resort.

I remembered her saying that they no longer had any contact, that her daughter wanted nothing to do with her, that she was severed from her past. But one day, her phone rang. Emily glanced at the screen, and her face lit up with joy.

“Of course, come over! We’re at the hotel…” I heard her voice.

I was bewildered. How could this happen? How did they find each other?

A couple of hours later, they arrived. Her daughter didn’t even look my way – all her attention was focused on her mother. And Emily… she was absolutely glowing. She had never seen her granddaughter, and now, there she was.

She was crying with happiness, holding the little one, kissing her, embracing her. I felt surplus to requirements.

“I’ll go for a walk,” I said, giving them some time alone.

When I returned, I saw her ex-husband looking at her with… affection, a kind of quiet longing.

Anxiety began to creep in.

An Unseen Crack
Once they left, we retreated to our hotel room. Emily immediately went to bed without even wishing me a good night. It was the first time this had happened.

The next morning, she seemed unusual – anxious and contemplative.

“I just have a headache,” she said.

But something had shifted.

A few days later, she announced that we needed to head back home early. She hurriedly packed her bags, hardly speaking during the journey.

And then… she vanished.

Disappearance
The day after we returned, she left “for business” to London. And she never came back.

I tried calling her, but she always had excuses – “I’m on the tube,” “I’m in a meeting,” “I’ll call you later.” But she never did.

I couldn’t bring myself to call her again. I simply couldn’t.

For a week, I reached for my phone, but then I would toss it on the bed, realizing that hearing another lie was unbearable.

I understood everything without needing words.

A Closed Door
A couple of weeks later, she finally called. Her voice was quiet, almost remorseful.

“I made a mistake. I thought… I got lost… I’m sorry.”

She said something more, but I wasn’t really listening.

“It’s too late, Emily.”

And I hung up.

I don’t expect her new-old man to change. Perhaps in a year, two, or three, she might call me again.

But now, it doesn’t matter.

There is no longer a place for her in my life.
