Helena dreamed of marriage because she was over thirty, and she had wanted a child for a long time. She and Frank met in a supermarket. When Lena was standing at the cash register, her purse fell out of her bag, and Frank saw it, picked it up and returned it. As Helena was leaving the supermarket, Frank offered to walk her out. The girl liked him at first sight, and he looked quite decent and even presentable.
Helena was a slightly overweight blonde. She dressed well, and had gold jewelry. Frank must have liked her too. The young people started dating. Frank had his own house. Once he took her to a cafe and then they met at his place. Helena cleaned up her lover’s apartment and started coming over to cook dinner for him.
The girl thought they were practically living together, but Frank did not hurry with the proposal, they did not even go to the movies together. Frank bought the cheapest groceries, but Helena didn’t like it, and she started shopping for herself.
Frank told her that he repaired apartments, which was a one-time job, so he often stayed at home. Helena worked as an accountant for a large company and had a steady, decent income. The girl lived with her parents and she considered Frank to be her husband, and that is why she never saved on food.
One day she came to her lover and he could hardly move around the apartment, the guy told her that his back was hurting him. He needed a massage, for which he had no money. Helena gave her lover the money, he promised he’d pay her back, and then he forgot. Helena didn’t even pay attention to this, because she thought he was her soulmate. One day her lover picked up Helena at work in a car.
– Did you buy a car? – Helena asked.
– No, I borrowed it from a friend to take you to the country. – Frank answered.
Helena was looking forward to this romantic trip. It was late May, the sun was shining, the birds were singing, the romance was over. Frank’s cottage was a tiny house in the suburbs. When the young people arrived at the property, Frank suggested:
– Helenochka, let’s plant a greenhouse, I brought everything with me.
All day long, Helena was busy planting tomatoes and cucumbers in the greenhouse, and then tidying up the plot. In the meantime, my beloved was watching TV, since his back was hurting again. After such a romantic pastime, Helena cleaned herself up for a few days. Then Frank several more times invited her beloved to “relax” at the cottage, but she categorically refused. Her mother kept asking Helena when they were going to have a wedding, because her daughter had been away from her fiancé all day and night.
Frank was in no hurry to introduce her to his family, and he did not ask her to visit. Helena already understood that such relations would not end well, and that she had either to move on or put an end to them. The girl repeatedly tried to talk to her boyfriend, but all conversations ended in nothing. Once her boyfriend told her that he had a good order in a nearby town, so he would be gone for a while, but then he would definitely be back.
Helena was happy that her lover would have his own money and decided to talk to him about the wedding after he returned. One weekend, Helena decided to check on the dacha, to see how the vegetables she had planted were growing. She went to the village and entered the plot through the gate.
Unexpectedly she heard laughter coming from the house. At first she turned around to leave, but then curiosity got the better of her and she peeked through the window. She saw Frank with a woman in an unambiguous pose.
The girl sat down on the bench and thought about the fact that Frank must have gotten another housekeeper…
