**Scene 1: The Chilly Reception in the Grand Hall**
Picture this: a stunning ballroom dripping in crystal chandeliers and that faint trace of bougie perfume in the air. Eleanor is centre stage in a gown by some posh designer, easily worth several thousand pounds. Suddenly, she spots her mum, Mary, at the door. Marys thrown on her old cardigan and is carrying an ordinary plastic carrier bag.
Eleanor hisses, absolutely livid:
You look like one of the staff! Are you trying to ruin the biggest night of my life? Just go. Now!
**Scene 2: The Final Gift**
Marys eyes fill with tears. She shakily holds out the bag.
Ellie, love, I just wanted to bring your favourite biscuits… homemade, like when you were little…
Without even glancing, Eleanor swats the bag from her mothers hands. Biscuits scatter across the shiny wooden floor.

Thats when Victor, Eleanors fiancé, steps out from the crowd. He looks ghostly pale, and his eyes are full of disgust. He stares at the biscuits, then straight at Eleanor.

Eleanor reaches for him, stammering weak excuses, but Victor pulls away sharply. He kneels down, right there in front of everyone, and starts picking up the biscuits, helping Mary to her feet.
If you think shes just staff, then I guess Im staff as well. Were leaving.
**Scene 5: The Shattering Illusion**
Eleanor just stands there, dazed. She watches as the man she thought was her ticket to a glamorous life leads her mum out the door. The whole rooms dead silent. No ones looking at her with admiration anymore just judgement. Panic sets in: all that chasing after appearances, and shes lost everything that truly mattered.
And how does it all end?
A week later, Eleanor tries ringing Victor, but his phones switched off. When she finally gets to their flat, she finds the locks changed and her suitcases left with the porter. On top, that same plastic carrier bag.
Inside is a note from Victor: *Diamonds on your neck cant hide the cheapness in your soul. Im filing for divorce. And the house your mother once sold? I bought it back. Shes living there now. Theres no place for you.*
Eleanors left alone in her overpriced dress, realising its just a bit of fabric after all. The world she betrayed her mum for spat her out the moment she tripped. She finally understands: her mothers love always came with open arms, whilst the high society she longed for just tossed her aside.
