Renata Faces a Dilemma: With Pressure from Her Parents and Boyfriend to Get Married, Something Holds Her Back—But She Can’t Quite Put Her Finger on What It Is

5th June

Ive been with Edward for five years, and to everyone around me, it seems its about time we took the next step. Six months ago he proposed, but I still feel uncertain about marrying him. Edward was patient in the beginning, but lately I can sense his frustration growing. My parents hint, sometimes not so softly, that at 25, I ought to be married by now.

The truth is, I dont feel Edward is truly the right man for me. Our relationship is steady enough, but theres this persistent, nagging feeling that something is just… off. Over the last few months, Ive grown quite fond of a colleague, Matthew. But of course, nothing is ever simplehes already in a relationship himself and doesnt seem interested in settling down. Strangely, this uncertainty brings us closer, and I sometimes wonder if hes the one Ive been searching for all along.

Despite Edwards increasing pressure, I just cant bring myself to agree to marry him. Recently, he gave me a deadlineeither we marry in autumn or in winter. After some hesitation, I reluctantly agreed to a winter wedding, but the weight of that choice became unbearable. In the end, I left Edward and found solace at my parents house.

In the meantime, another colleague tied the knot with his girlfriend, and suddenly my interest in Matthew started to wane. Now, I find myself in a strange sort of limbo, still waiting for someone I can truly call the one. I keep asking myself whether I even know how to value a good relationship, or if my instincts are right and Edward simply isnt for me.

So I go on searching, hoping that Ill stumble across the person Im meant to be with. Yet, Im still not sure that such a person exists for me. I wish I knew what the right thing to do was, but all I have are questions and the quiet hope that, in time, the answer will become clear.
