Patricia and her husband love their summer house very much. But according to Ella, her daughter-in-law, there is nothing to love there. But the in-laws practically live there from April to October. If they had their way, they would stay at the dacha for the winter, but for this they need to invest a lot of money in the house.
– It would be better if they went to the sea to rest, – Ella said.
About five years ago, Patricia and her husband asked their son and daughter-in-law to borrow money to equip their cottage. The young people had money, about 200,000 on the account. Ella and her husband had no plans for it, so they gave it with a light heart.
The parents assured that they would return it within two years. A month after the transfer of funds Ella gave birth to twins. Patricia helped her daughter-in-law in everything.
– I can’t even imagine how I would have coped without the help of my mother-in-law, – says Ella, – People can’t cope with one, but I have two. She came every day. She even abandoned her summer cottage. My mother could not help, because she was still working.
For two years, while my wife helped my daughter-in-law to raise the twins, my father-in-law worked alone in the summer cottage. During these two years, the mother-in-law herself regularly started a conversation:
– We will definitely pay you back the money, – she told her daughter-in-law and son, “but you are in no hurry, right?
But now she doesn’t talk about it anymore. The father-in-law has not been working for a year because of illness, the mother-in-law herself has been a pensioner for six years. And apparently they won’t be able to pay back the money.
– Let’s forget about the debt, – Ella’s husband says, – After all, your mother helped you with the children, and supplied you with vegetables and berries from the dacha…
– Your husband is right, – says the friend. – And in general, debts between parents and children, in my opinion, are wildness…
– After all, they borrowed. They swore to pay it back – Ella’s mother says – So let them keep their promise
And Ella doesn’t know what to do.
