The Woman Who Walked Out on Her Husband and Children: Two Days Later, She Received a Letter That Changed Everything After Returning Home from Work, the Father Just Wanted to Watch the Football Match in Peace—Ignoring Family Responsibilities, He Refused to Put the Screaming Children to Bed. But That Evening, Everything Changed: His Frustrated Wife Slammed the Door and Left, Leaving the Children in His Care. The Quiet World of a Man Enjoying a Beer on the Sofa Was Suddenly Turned Upside Down. Here’s the Letter He Wrote to His Wife a Few Days Later: “My Dear, A few days ago, we argued. I came home exhausted. It was 8pm, and I just wanted to relax on the sofa and watch the match. You were in a bad mood and clearly worn out. The children argued and screamed as you tried to get them to bed. I turned up the volume to drown them out. ‘Would it kill you to help out a little and share the parenting?’ you asked, turning the volume down. Frustrated, I snapped back: ‘I’ve been working all day so you can stay home and play with dolls.’ We argued. Words flew. You cried because you were so tired and angry. I said a lot of things. You shouted you couldn’t take it anymore. Then you left, leaving the children with me. I had to feed them and put them to bed myself. You didn’t return the next day. I took time off work to stay home with the children. I went through all their tantrums and tears. I ran around the house all day and didn’t get a moment to wash. I was home all day without an adult to talk to. I never got to sit down and enjoy a meal—I had to look after the children constantly. I was so exhausted I felt I could have slept for 20 hours straight, but that’s impossible when a child wakes screaming every three hours. I lived without you for two days and a night. And now I know it all. I know how tired you are. I understand: being a mother is a constant sacrifice. It’s so much harder than sitting in an office for ten hours making major financial decisions. I realised you gave up your career and financial freedom to be there for our children. I understand how tough it is when the finances aren’t yours but your partner’s. I understand what you sacrifice when you turn down a party or a trip to the gym with friends. You miss your favourite activities and never get a proper night’s sleep. I know what it’s like to feel cut off from the world, trapped with the children while everything else passes by. I understand why you feel hurt when my mum criticises your parenting. Nobody understands the children better than their mother. I know now that mothers have the greatest responsibility in society. But sadly, no one appreciates or praises them for it. I’m not writing just to say how much I miss you. I don’t want another day of your life to pass without these words: “You are incredibly brave, you do a wonderful job, and I truly admire you!” The role of wife, mother, and homemaker is the most important in society, yet the least appreciated. Share this letter with your friends—let’s finally start celebrating the world’s most vital profession: the profession of being a mother.”
The woman ran from the house, leaving her husband and children, and two days later, received a letter.
