My first marriage fell apart quickly. It was a disaster for me, but it had to happen. But it was just the beginning.
A year went by and I had a stroke. It was in my early thirties, but nerves, work, science. I went into work, and work went into me. I got sick during the completion of another phase. I went through all the admissions, preparing paperwork, sitting in my office. And the next memory is waking up in the hospital. My arm and leg did not listen, I could not speak.
I had a stroke. Sick leave for six months. There was talk about not going back to work. I had to do a long recuperation, learn to read and write again. I left town for a while. I took a lot of walks, distracted myself from everything, but the trials were successful and I received a considerable bonus. I grew fond of fishing. It helped me a lot to recover from the disease. But the main prize was ahead of me. I did not plan my second marriage and did not look for anyone. They found me. By chance, I met a graduate in a village who could not find a job anywhere with a diploma. We talked a lot, discussed a lot, it all worked itself out.
Clever girl, quiet. But she was very worried about her career, and I was running out of it due to a stroke. Once we got to talking, she noticed that something was wrong with me. Told me confidently that I would go back to work. And a little later something clicked inside of me. When we met again, I just took her in my arms and asked her out. And she said no dating, only formal marriage.
I was a little surprised, and she very wisely explained everything. I’m not a bad scientist, Ph.D., and I have to work. And she is enough to be just the wife of a good scientist. She immediately made it clear that it is not necessary to attach her somewhere, it is better to create a family.
We quickly married, I quickly recovered and got in the midst of the next stage of development. They found me a secretary right away, so I wouldn’t have a stroke again. And my second wife made my home cozy, cooked, put everything in order, and gave me advice. She was the one who got me back on the track from which I had fallen. That was the main reward.
And it was more than one reward. Almost immediately my wife got pregnant, and it was like my wings were open. That was the major award. And then there was my dissertation, I took on a new subject.
My second wife gave me a real life, just playing her part in it. That is my main reward.
