Near the river, Maria noticed a girl. She was neglected and confused. As it turned out later, the child was left here by her mother

Maria was forty-eight when this strange story happened to her. She was a very lonely woman. Her husband was long gone, and her two children grew up and left to live separately. They studied in the city, found jobs, and later stayed there. They came to visit their mother infrequently. They wanted to take her to live with them, but Mariia refused. So she stayed alone in the village. She had no time to be sad. All day long she fussed around the farm and in the garden. Near her house, a magnificent flower garden was pleasing to the eye.

There was a river near the forest behind the village. It was a cozy, picturesque place. Locals often went there to fish and swim.

Mushroom pickers always returned with baskets full of mushrooms. So Maria, having done her chores, also went mushroom picking.

On the very bank of the river, she noticed a child. At first, she thought the girl’s parents were somewhere nearby, so she watched her from afar for a while. It was already evening, it was cold, and the girl was wearing only a sweatshirt and shorts. The child looked confused, but did not cry. Maria decided to approach her and ask her where her parents were and what she was doing here.

As Maria got closer to the girl, she noticed that her clothes were dirty and torn. The child looked very untidy. Her hair was uncombed and tangled.

Then Maria realized that it was useless to search for the child’s parents, and she did not want to leave the girl to fend for herself. So she decided to take her home. She would spend the night at her place, and in the morning she would think about what to do.

But it turned out that it was not so easy to find those grieving parents. The girl was silent all the time, it seemed that she could not speak. She did not even know her name, she walked in silence, looking down. She did not answer any questions.

The next day, Maria went to the police to find the child’s parents. They found them quickly. More precisely, they tracked down the mother, who had left the child alone on the riverbank.

Maria found out that the girl’s name was Sarah and that she really could not speak. The child’s father died in a car accident, and her mother was an abusive mother. She was not interested in her daughter at all, but rather prevented her from living a wild life. The girl accidentally broke a vase at home, and the mother took the child by the hand and took her to the river. She left her there.

Who knows what would have happened to the child if not for Maria. A few days later, the child’s mother wrote a letter of abandonment. The girl was sent to an orphanage. Maria almost fell over when she learned about it. She was worried about how the girl would live there. After all, she does not speak at all.

Later, Maria made an important decision – she wanted to adopt this child.

At first, Maria had a hard time with the girl, because she turned out to be a rather difficult child. By the time she was five years old, Sara was barely speaking and was significantly behind in her development. But Maria’s faith and love made a miracle happen.

Now Sarah is eleven years old. She is better developed than her peers. The girl goes to art and gymnastics classes. She also dreams of becoming a lawyer.

Sara knows the truth about the adoption, but this does not stop her from loving Maria with sincere childlike love. The woman managed to become a real mother to Sarah.
