My wife was sleeping beside me when suddenly my phone buzzed with a Facebook notification, and a woman requested to add me as a friend. I accepted the request.
Afterwards, I messaged her, asking, Do we know each other?
She replied, I heard you got married, but I still love you.
She was an old friend from years ago, looking rather stunning in her profile picture.
I closed the chat window and glanced at my wife, who slept peacefully after a long, tiring day at work.
Watching her, I thought about how comfortable and secure she must feel sleeping so calmly in our new home together.
Shes far from her parents house, where she once spent every hour surrounded by her family. When she was upset or sad, her mum was always there for her, ready to offer her a shoulder to cry on. Her brother or sister would tell her jokes to make her laugh. Her dad would come home with little treats that she loved. Yet now, shes trusted me with her happiness.
All these thoughts filled my mind, so I picked up my phone and pressed BLOCK.
I then turned towards her and drifted off to sleep at her side.
I am a man, not a boy. I promised her loyalty, and I will keep that promise. Ill always strive to be a husband who never betrays his wife and keeps his family whole. In the end, true love requires commitment and integritythese are the principles that make any family strong.
