My wife was asleep next to me… when suddenly, a notification popped up on Facebook. A woman had sent me a friend request.

I accepted the request and messaged her, asking, “Do we know each other?”

She replied, “I heard youre married now, but I still love you.”

She was an old friend from years ago, and her profile picture was strikingly beautiful.

I closed the chat window and glanced at my wife, peacefully sleeping beside me after a long, tiring day at work.

As I watched her, I thought of how safe she must feel sleeping so soundly in our new home, here with me. She is miles away from the comfort of her parents house, where she used to spend her days, always surrounded by family. Whenever she was upset or sad, her mum would be there so she could cry in her lap. Her brother or sister would share a joke to make her laugh. Her dad would come home with little things that made her smile. And now, despite all this change, she put her trust in me.

All these thoughts filled my mind, so I picked up my phone and pressed “BLOCK.”

Then, I turned towards her and drifted off to sleep at her side.

I’m a man, not a boy. I gave her my word, and I intend to keep it. I will always strive to be a man who doesnt betray his wife or destroy his family.

True strength lies in loyalty, and happiness is found in honouring those we love.
