While I was studying at the university and trying to work at the same time, I didn’t have enough money for many things. But at that moment I was happy because I had no problems in my life. My wife and I were renting a small apartment, and we hadn’t thought about having children yet. First we wanted to buy our own home, and then we could think about procreation. My parents are retired and I have a younger sister. My sister is divorced, and she has my nephew, who is already a first-grader. We never had a lot of money in our family, but we somehow managed to cope with everything ourselves.
And then I had good times, as I thought at first. Because I graduated from university and was promoted at work. I became the main assistant to our boss. This all affected my salary, and even a lot. My wife and I immediately decided to take out a mortgage and finally move into our own apartment. And after that, we decided that if we were going to start making changes in our lives, we would do it in full. That’s why my wife announced a month later that she was pregnant. We began to prepare for the birth of a child. When the family found out about my promotion, everyone was immediately happy.
But then the pressure began: my parents pressed my conscience that I should help my sister and nephew. And my sister, in turn, said that I was an older brother, so I had to help my parents financially. My money was going fast. Either my parents needed to buy a new and big TV, or my nephew was going on an expensive excursion. My wife began to resent me because she is now on maternity leave, and we don’t have enough money for the family, because there are a lot of people living on my salary. I need to wean my relatives off my money, because they are taking the last of it from me, because I have to prepare for the birth of my child. Children’s clothes are very expensive now.
