My parents offer me to work as a cleaner in a hospital instead of studying at university. They think that I will get a job as a doctor faster. I have never heard such absurdity!

I would understand it if my parents asked me to work because of lack of finances, but I entered the medical university on a scholarship. There is no reason to urgently send me to work, even as a cleaner in a hospital.

My parents think that by working as a cleaner, I will be able to quickly plunge into the essence of my future profession, but no, unfortunately. I understand, if I wanted to become a hairdresser, I would get a job as a master’s assistant. This is another matter, and medicine is a delicate matter that requires special knowledge.

I do not demand money from my parents. I got a scholarship, I just need to live with them at first, and then, getting used to the pace of student life, I will start working and move out from them. My studies will last for several years. Of course, I will not sit on the neck of my parents all the time, but I am not going to work now, otherwise I will put an end to my plans and career.

Even my relatives took my side in this situation. They persuade my parents to change their minds, but to no avail. Everyone understands that you cannot learn medicine by working as a cleaner in a clinic. Everyone except my parents.

I am ashamed to discuss the topic with them. As if I am asking my parents to let me live with them. Other parents of my friends ask them to be patient with work and concentrate on their studies, but we do the opposite. Do my mom and dad think that I am such a parasite who wants to suck money from them as long as possible?
