My Mother-in-Law Is Trying to Ruin My Marriage—The Saddest Part Is My Husband Doesn’t Believe Me

My mother-in-law is trying to tear my marriage apart. The worst part is, my husband doesnt believe me.

When I married him, I was the happiest woman alive. My husband was gentle, respectful, always lending a hand. There was just one shadow over my happinesshis mother. After meeting her, it became clear she wasnt the sharpest knife in the drawer.

She was obsessed with all things homely and wanted everything her way, and I quickly realised if we ever moved in with her, I wouldnt get a moments peace. So, together, we decided to rent a flat of our own.

Then, my father passed awaycancer. Suddenly, I had this big country cottage on my hands. We made the decision to move out to the countryside, especially since Id always loved the idea of working outdoors, growing my own garden. My husband shared the same dream.

Not long after wed settled in, my mother-in-law showed up. She announced she wanted the house for herself. She even suggested we trade our cottage for a single room in a flat back in town. Of course, I told her no. She made a sceneshouting, storming out, the lot.

Later that day, my husband rang me at work. He said Id treated his mother dreadfully, that apparently, Id shouted at her. It turned out shed spun him a tale. I havent a clue what to do now, or what to say to make him believe me.
