My mother-in-law is trying to ruin my marriage. The saddest part is that my husband doesnt believe me.
When I got married, I felt like the happiest woman alive. My husband was so kind, always respectful, and supportive in everything I did. Our happiness was clouded just a little by his mother. From the moment I met her, it was clear she wasnt the brightest spark.
She loves having everything her way and being in controlI realised straightaway that if we were to live with her, Id feel completely suffocated. So, we decided to rent a flat of our own.
Not long after, my father passed awayhe had cancer. Suddenly, I inherited a big country house. My husband and I agreed to move to the countryside. Id always loved working outdoors and had dreamt of having a garden of my own; he was excited about it too.
Some time after the move, my mother-in-law turned up out of the blue. She announced that she wanted the house for herself and even suggested we swap our country home for a single room in her city flat. Naturally, I refused, which led to a big row. She stormed out of the house in a huff.
Later that day, my husband called and told me off for supposedly mistreating his mother. Apparently, shed told him I was shouting at her and all sorts of nonsense. Now I feel completely lost and dont know what to say or do to make him see the truth.
