I have an aunt. She’s my mom’s little sister. But they never talked to my mom. Only once did my mother mention that my aunt had cheated her out of her inheritance. But my mother didn’t want to tell me anything about the details. I only knew that my aunt had two children: a son, Adam, and a daughter, Maria.
Years went by. One day Maria was added to my friends. She told me that she had a lot of interesting things to tell me. And just at that moment I was going through a very difficult period in my life. My mother died two years ago. My dad lived for two years after that. He waited until I graduated from university and then he died too.
My parents loved each other very much. Dad just couldn’t deal with Mom’s death. After Mom died, Dad immediately took over the inheritance of the apartment. I gave up my share in his favor. And then Dad wrote a deed of gift, and the whole apartment now belonged to me.
– You’ll figure it out later, but don’t listen to anyone! Your mom’s relatives will lie to you! – My dad told me one day.
I tried to find out from my dad what he meant. But he wouldn’t tell me anything.
And then my dad died. I took my parents’ death very hard. And then Maria wrote to me. She said that she would soon come to my city on business and that she had some very interesting information for me.
I gave Maria my phone number and address. Maria came to visit me five days later. I met her at the train station. Then we had dinner. And Maria told me that Adam was my paternal brother. That’s why my grandmother left everything to my aunt. Maria said that at first my dad took care of my aunt. Then she got pregnant and he left her and married my mom.
– Mom’s going to come and see you soon with my brother. They’re going to share your apartment! So get ready! – Maria warned me.
I didn’t tell her that Adam wouldn’t get anything, because my dad had written a deed of gift for me a long time ago. And the car from the very beginning was bought and registered in my name. But I didn’t believe the story Maria told me. Dad loved Mom very much, and he was a very noble man. He just couldn’t do what Maria told me.
– Thank you for warning me, Maria! Let’s go to bed now!
I always sleep very lightly. I woke up to Maria looking for something.
I immediately turned on the light and Maria dropped the phone in fright.

When I woke up in the morning, Maria was gone. I checked if everything was there. But it turned out that all my things were there. A week later I got a call from my aunt. She was drunk.

I just dropped her call. She never called me again. But Maria called me and demanded that I buy her a new phone to replace the one she broke while she was looking for my documents. I realized that Maria had found the deed of gift and realized that Adam wouldn’t get the apartment.
