My husband’s parents made a condition: they would give us the money to buy an apartment. But on the condition that the apartment would be fully owned by my husband.

When we got married we lived in my apartment, which I had inherited many years ago. I was still a student and I lived in an apartment that was very close to my institute. Then I graduated from the university and soon I got pregnant. My husband’s parents let us live in their two-room apartment.

We agreed with great joy. The apartment my husband’s parents had was very nice. Except that the area in which it was located, was very disadvantaged. But my husband and I decided that it did not matter.

We quickly managed to make a small repair in the apartment and equipped a great children’s room. But very soon I realized that we were wrong. The neighborhood was really very bad: noisy, dirty, and with very strange people. That’s why I was even afraid to go out for a walk with my son.

We decided to go back to my two-room apartment, but then it turned out that I was pregnant again. It was clear that we would all be very crowded in the two-room apartment, so we decided to stay in the three-room apartment. But I soon changed my mind and here’s why.

One day my husband went on a business trip and I was home alone. A drunken neighbor started breaking into our apartment at night. He was shouting very hard, ringing the bell nonstop, banging on the door with his fists and feet. I had to call the police to pick him up. Of course, I was very scared.

After that, I was afraid to stay home alone with my children. I talked Mark into moving out. My husband’s parents weren’t against it. They even let us sell their apartment. I decided to sell my own place too.

My apartment was in a quiet area, in the center of the city and it was nicely renovated, so I sold it very quickly. But my father-in-law’s three-room apartment did not sell so quickly. But still it too found a buyer. My husband’s parents sold their apartment.

We wanted to buy a two-bedroom apartment in a nice neighborhood and another one-bedroom apartment which we wanted to rent out. Everything was fine, but only until my mother-in-law declared:

– If you want to get money from us, the new apartment has to be in Mark’s name only! After all, before the wedding he had a three-bedroom apartment. That’s why he should have your apartment!

I just numbed with amazement. I had to remind my mother-in-law that I give all the money from the sale of my apartment to buy a common home. And my mother-in-law wants our new apartment to belong only to my husband. Of course, this does not suit me at all. My husband doesn’t know who to support: me or his parents. I just don’t know what to do. Where we will live now – still unknown. And how we’re going to register the apartment – it’s not clear either.
