It just so happened that six years ago I became the owner of three apartments. One apartment was a one-bedroom apartment, one apartment was a two-bedroom apartment. And the third apartment was a two-bedroom apartment altogether. One apartment I inherited from my grandmother, and the other two apartments I inherited from my mother’s relatives, who had no children of their own.
In the one- and two-bedroom apartments, we did renovations and let tenants in. And in the three-room apartment, we made repairs, and I started living there alone. Then I met William. Six months later William and I got married and started living in my apartment. With the money we were given for the wedding, we bought a refrigerator, a washing machine, and some of the household appliances. My mom also gave us a couch and some kitchen furniture.
And then I got pregnant and had a son. And two years later I gave birth to a daughter. As long as I don’t work, I take care of the kids. The apartments we rent out bring us a normal income.
Two years ago William and I took a car on credit. Of course, William doesn’t really like the fact that we live in my apartment and he has nothing.
He used to worry a lot about it. And two months ago he just went crazy. We were at William’s cousin’s housewarming party. He bought an apartment with a mortgage and invited us to the housewarming party. Everyone was praising him. And one of my relatives said:
– A real man should earn his own living, not live with his parents or in his wife’s apartment!
William took it all personally. He was not himself for two weeks. Then he told me that he had decided to take out a mortgage on the apartment. I was just shocked! We don’t have any extra money. William has a regular salary. And we have a lot of expenses. We have a car loan and two children.
If we live on the money I get from renting the apartment, William has to pay the mortgage on his salary. And if we pay the mortgage with my money, we will live on my husband’s salary. But it still turns out that William will buy an apartment at my expense.
At the same time, we do not need a fourth apartment at all! We already have three apartments! We have a place to live, and we even have apartments for our children when they grow up. But I can’t change William’s mind. Because of this, he and I have had a very big fight. I just don’t know what to do to get my husband to give up his stupid idea
