My Husband Abandoned Me and Our Children, Leaving Us Without Financial Support, Only to Have an Accident a Year Later

You know, our journey together started over fifteen years ago, back when Tom and I got married. For a while, we lived with his mum, sharing the house and working together in a local factory. Later on, we moved to a little flat, and honestly, life felt like it was headed in the right direction. Recognising the opportunities Toms career could bring, I really encouraged him to go after further education. I took care of the household and even helped with his coursework writing up his reports, essays, and assignments, just to make sure hed graduate and get that well-deserved promotion at work. My own career didnt really take off, despite my degree, but I found comfort knowing our family was happy.

When our son, James, grew up a bit, I became pregnant with our daughter, Harriet. Eventually, I went back to work, but both kids were forever catching something or needing a trip to the GP, and I always had to be there for them. Despite all the stress, I tried to stay positive and thanked my lucky stars for the love we had in our home. Tom grew more devoted to his job, and together, we managed to buy a spacious flat where the kids were over the moon to finally have their own bedrooms. Still, Tom started coming home less and less, and I couldnt help but worry.

One day, I heard about his affair from an old colleague I bumped into who was dealing with the same situation herself. I plucked up the courage to confront the woman he was seeing, right at Toms office, and asked her to leave us alone. Instead, she embarrassed me in front of everyone there, without a hint of regret for what shed done. When Tom turned up, he admitted everything and dropped the news that he wanted a divorce. Hed had enough of living a double life.

He went and hired the top solicitors, leaving me and the kids with absolutely nothing no thought for our wellbeing or how we’d get by financially. Lost in his new relationship, Tom never looked back, and honestly, I struggled to pick up the pieces. If it werent for my parents helping out, I wouldnt have been able to buy a small flat or find a job to keep our little family afloat. Gradually, life started to look up.

A year later, Tom showed up on my doorstep, hands empty and head lowered, after losing his job and getting ditched by his new wife because of an accident. He never once said sorry for how he betrayed us; he was arrogant and full of himself. Even though he begged for my help, I told him he was on his own. How could I help the man whod left us with nothing and didnt spare a second thought for our care? So now, its about my children and me our happiness and wellbeing come first, just like he once put himself before us.
