My friends are buying flats and spending money on renovations, while my girlfriend has squandered all her savings trying to boost our finances.

Everyone else seems to have a lovely wife, but I wound up with an absolute fool.

She boasted to everyone before the wedding, telling them that after the big day wed have no trouble buying a flat because the guests would give us money and her family would help. In reality, though, her parents made it clear that since shed decided, at twenty, to marry a ‘hopeless estate agent’ with no university degree, we would have to sort it out ourselves. They actually laughed at our situation. So in the end, I had to bring her to live with my parents.

My brother already lives there with his pregnant girlfriend, so it’s terribly cramped. My parents hinted that it would be best if we found our own placeat least a rented flat. But I decided to save up for a proper mortgage instead. My wife knew the plan and always told me she longed for our own place. And what does she do in the end? She takes all the savings and buys shares.

Why? To grow our money, she said.

My mum nearly fainted when I told her. My heart is crushed, too, because the value of the shares is dropping. And now we either have to sell at a loss or risk waiting, hoping things improve someday. So here we arewhile all our friends have families and flats, we have shares!

My wife cries every night now, saying she was swindled. On top of it, she even paid those people to ‘teach’ her how to invest. I cant help but think about divorce. My love isnt enough if I cant move past thismy mind keeps replaying all the pounds I earned and saved through the years, now turning into nothing.

If you look at it, our marriage was doomed from the start. And this only proves, once again, Ive been living under a cloud because I married an empty-headed girl.
