My father left my mother and me at the most difficult time. My mother and I managed to get back on our feet, but then the unexpected happened

The only memories I have of my father are quarrels, screams, and scandals with my mother. We did not live well, in a communal apartment, I would even say poorly. My mom often worked overtime to earn bread, and my dad was good at making scandals about it. Once we went to the market to buy vegetables. The seller told us a joke, and my mom and I laughed. My father looked at my mother with a stone face. He didn’t say anything until we got home.

At home, he had such a fight… He shouted at my mom so much that all the neighbors were talking about it later. In the end, he even put his hand on her. Then there was another incident: my father’s friend, Uncle, who came to visit us quite often, joked that I was not my father’s daughter. I looked very much like my mother, and I got nothing from my father. So my father believed this nonsense. I was not 13 at the time, and my father decided to leave my mother and me.

After this step, we had almost no money left for our daily bread. He didn’t even pay the cops. My mother did not want to get into any legal disputes, so she had to make do on her own. Mom got a second job. We were still living in poverty, but we stayed afloat. After graduating from high school, I spent all my energy and strength on getting into a good university. As a result, I found a good job.

And then I got married quite successfully, and finally I was able to provide my mother with the life she always deserved. Recently, I received a message. The message was from my father. He wrote that he really wanted to resume our communication. He asked me to give him my number. In short, I’m in a bind. Some friends advise me to meet him halfway: to meet him, talk to him, listen to him. I don’t want to do that. I remember when he left us. That was when my mother and I needed him the most. He is a complete stranger to me. I didn’t tell my mother about this news either: I didn’t want her to worry. And I don’t know what to do with my father.
