My Ex-Wife Tried to Sue Me for Half the House, But She Didn’t Expect I’d Outfoxed Her from the Start

My relationship with my ex ended up playing out in a courtroom. I wont start pointing fingers about who was right or wronglets be honest, when a relationship breaks down, the blames always on both sides.
The truth is, though, my second wife ended up having an affair. She got involved with this well-off chap whod moved here years ago and eventually opened up a cosy little café in town. At first, she tried to keep the whole thing under wraps, but it didnt take long for them to stop bothering to hide anything at all.
Eventually, she came clean and hit me with the newsshe was filing for divorce and wanted to take me to court for half the house. I suppose she thought Id lose my rag or start panicking, but the thing is, I bought that place with money I earned the hard way. She didnt put a single penny towards it, apart from living there for a couple of years. And now she had the cheek to try to claim her share.
Truth be told, I stayed pretty calm. I didnt even try to talk her out of going to courtI just waited for the whole thing to play out, knowing full well shed end up out of pocket with court fees. To be honest, Id learned my lesson from my first marriage. That dragged on for over three years in court. We could never see eye to eye, and every courtroom session would blow up into a full-blown row.
But my first wife got what she wanted in the endshe sued me for half my assets and, with the help of a sharp solicitor, managed to take the flat Id inherited from my dad. She left me with nothing from that place.
I made sure not to repeat the same mistakes with my second wife. Before we tied the knot, I already had a flat, one Id done up myself, but Id put it in my brother Olivers namehes the one person Id trust with anything, no questions asked. So, when divorce rolled around again, I didnt officially own a thing. After what happened the first time, theres no way Im getting caught out againno woman will manage to pull a fast one on me.
