My Ex-Wife Planned to Sue Me for Half the House, but She Didn’t Expect I Had Already Outfoxed Her

My relationship with my ex ended with us facing each other in a courtroom. I wont go into who was at faulttheres blame on both sides in any relationship.
The fact remains that my second wife found herself a lover. Hes a well-off businessman who moved here to London some years ago and eventually set up a cosy little café in the city. At first, she tried to keep her affair with him a secret, but soon enough, they stopped bothering to hide it at all.
Eventually, she confronted me herself and told me she was filing for divorce. She said shed be taking me to court to claim half of our house. She clearly expected me to lose my head over it, but the flat had been bought solely with my hard-earned money. She had no real claim on it beyond the two years she lived there. The nerve she had, trying to stake her claim now.
I took it all in stride. I didnt try to talk her out of the court case; I just waited quietly for her to lose and have to pay the court fees. My first divorce had already taught me a harsh lesson. That ordeal dragged on for more than three years, all because we couldnt see eye to eye. Every court hearing ended in a row.
In the end, my first wife got what she wantedhalf my assets. She ended up with the flat Id inherited from my father, all because she secured a clever solicitor. She left me with nothing.
But with my second wife, I played it much wiser. Before tying the knot, I already owned a flat in Manchester, one Id renovated myself. But Id registered it in my brothers namehes the one person I trust without question. So when the divorce came around, there was nothing for her to take. After learning the hard way from my first marriage, I made sure no one could pull the wool over my eyes again.
Life can be rough, and sometimes the best lessons come from our toughest experiences. Its important to protect yourself, but just as crucial is learning who truly deserves your trust. Always value honesty and think twice before letting anyone into the deeper parts of your life.
