Your dog attacked my daughter! a woman shouted. When we checked the security camera footage, we saw something awful.
This stranger stormed into our garden, looking furious. She was holding a little girl, about six years old, who was crying and clutching her stomach. There was a scratch clearly visible on her.
I froze. Rocky, my dog, was just sitting there calmly in the garden, wagging his tail happily. Wed had him for nearly five yearshe was smart, gentle, and had never hurt anyone. So these accusations seemed completely unbelievable.
The woman was screaming like some wild beast lived in our house. Shed already called the police and was demanding our rabid dog be put down immediately.
My hands were shaking, but I tried to stay calm and said,
Rocky would never do something like that. Hes friendly and loves kids. Maybe her daughter had provoked him. If you want, we can check the back garden camera together. Everything was recorded.
The police agreed, and we went inside. The camera was mounted right above the door, covering the whole gardenand the so-called crime scene.
When we watched the footage we were stunned.
The video showed something totally different from what the woman had described. The little girl had been playing in the garden when she suddenly ran toward the roadright under the wheels of a passing car.
In that second, Rocky bolted after her, grabbed her clothes, and practically yanked her out from under the car.
The woman had only seen the dog grabbing her daughters clothes and assumed he was attacking. The poor girl, terrified, had screamed and shakenshe hadnt even realised shed been saved.
When the mum saw the video, she went completely pale. It hit herher daughter was only alive because of our Rocky.
Tears in her eyes, she turned to us, thanked Rocky properly, and apologised for jumping to conclusions. Her whole opinion of him flippedhe wasnt a dangerous beast anymore. He was a hero.
