My Daughter Feared Staying with Grandma While I Was at Work: I Decided to Set Up a Hidden Camera and Witnessed Something Terrifying

My daughter was afraid to stay with her grandmother while I was at work. I decided to install a hidden camera and saw something horrifying.
When my daughter was still very little, I hadnt planned to return to work so soon. But circumstances forced my hand, leaving me with no real choice. There was no time to look for a nannyeverything happened suddenly. Thats when my mother-in-law offered:
“Leave her with me. Im home anywayId be happy to.”
At first, I even sighed with relief. Who better to care for her than her own grandmother? The first week passed quietly. I left with peace of mind and came home to find them both togetherplaying, my daughter seeming content.
But soon, something changed. My little girl became increasingly withdrawn. She woke at night screaming, clinging to me as if afraid Id vanish. During the day, she was quiet, unsmiling, sticking close to me the moment I returned from work.
One morning, as I was leaving, she grabbed my hand and whispered,
“Mom dont leave me with Grandma. I dont want to”
I was baffled. Thought it was just a childish whimmaybe Grandma had scolded her, and theyd had a fight. But her words stuck with me.
The next day, I set up a camerajust to be sure everything was fine.
That evening, when I turned on the recording and saw what happened in my absence, I froze in horror. Never had I imagined her own grandmother could treat her like this
On-screen, my daughter sat on the carpet with her toys. My mother-in-law was nearby. But the moment the child cried, the woman snatched her up, dragged her to the closet, and shoved her inside.
I could hear my daughter sobbing, banging from the darkness, while my mother-in-law sat calmly as if nothing was wrong.
“Cry it out in there,” she muttered coldly.
I almost stopped watching, but then I saw her eventually come out and try to hug her grandmotheronly to be shoved away, her tiny wrist squeezed so hard she yelped in pain.
Leaning in, the older woman hissed,
“Quiet. Or back in the closet. No food today.”
My hands trembled. This wasnt a tantrum or my childs imaginationit was the nightmare she endured while I worked to support us.
I took my daughter away immediately. The recordings went straight to the police. The trial was long, but the evidence was undeniable.
Since then, Ive learned: blood doesnt always mean kinship. Sometimes, the worst things happen where you least expect them.
