If someone had told me this tale, I probably wouldnt have believed it at first. But it happened to my brother and his wife. They were heading home after celebrating my grandfathers birthday in a small English village. It was early, around seven in the evening. As they were driving along a country road, they spotted a young woman standing on the verge, frantically waving her arms to make them stop.
My brothers wife, Emily, urged him not to pull over, saying it could be dangerous. Despite her protests, my brother, James, eased off the accelerator to see what was happening. The womans face was covered in cuts and bruises.
Through choking sobs, she explained that she and her family had been involved in an accident. Their car had careened off the road and tumbled into a ditch. She told James that her husband was dead, but their child was still alive, begging James to help him. She pointed towards the wreckage. James climbed out, told the woman to stay with Emily, and hurried towards the accident site.
He found the battered car at the bottom of the embankment. Without hesitation, he reached into the back and pulled out the young boy, who looked to be about six years old.
When he returned to their car, the woman was gone. He asked Emily about her, but Emily simply shrugged and said the woman had followed James. Confused, James went back to the crashed car to search for the woman. For the first time, he noticed two figures in the front seats. The man, clearly the husband, was in the drivers seat with the woman beside him. Both were lifeless. But how could she have begged for help on the road?
James says the realisation sent chills down his spine. The boy was taken in and lives with their family now; they adopted him. James is convinced that a ghost reached out to them for help.
