So, Ive got this mate called Matthew. Seriously, hes brilliant sharp as a tack. Everyone in our group goes to him whenever anything goes sideways, and hes always happy to lend a hand. So, Matthew was twenty-nine and not really considering marriage, until Alice came along. Shed just finished school, only eighteen. Honestly, there wasnt much any of us could do about it. Matthew was absolutely set on marrying Alice. They were head-over-heels, despite the age gap. But you know, its not really about the gap itself. Its not such a big deal these days. Its more that if it was twenty-six and thirty-seven, itd be a bit easier than eighteen and twenty-nine. Its just about generations, really. When you hit thirty, your priorities shift big time life takes on new colours, but at eighteen your heads still just spinning, and youre trying to figure things out for the next decade.
They loved each other so much, nothing could get in the way. Bless them, they got married. Although, to be honest, it wasnt a wedding in the traditional sense. Alice and Matthew just tied the knot quietly at the registry office and then took some close friends and family out for a nice meal. That evening they headed off on a road trip across Britain. Honestly, I reckon it was one of the best choices they ever made. Who needs all the fuss rowdy receptions, drunken arguments, unnecessary stress when you can spend your hard-earned pounds on something that actually brings you joy?
When they got back, they looked so refreshed and full of life. At first, Matthew confessed he felt a bit jealous of Alices bloke friends. Eventually, though, it sorted itself out. He realised they were just kids, nothing to worry about, and he could handle it no problem. Alice still goes off to parties and birthday dos with her mates, while Matthews quite content staying home. That kind of scene isnt his thing he much prefers cosy little get-togethers. Honestly, they make it work really well.
Its been three years now since they got married. Matthews working, earning decent money, and Alice is both studying and working too. Sure, theyve had the odd squabble and misunderstanding, but nothing major no big blow-ups ever. They arent thinking about kids yet; first, they want to buy a bigger flat. Matthew often has to explain the obvious to his wife, but he doesnt mind; Alice listens, gets it, and takes it on board. For her, Matthews word really matters, and for him, Alice is his whole world.
