Mia, you’ve already been on maternity leave, that’s enough, now my sister is in labor, I need to help Ida, so go to work. I’ve made a deal: Ida will sit with our son, – my husband Fred said it to me quite seriously.

To make a long story short, my husband Fred makes me come out of maternity leave urgently because his sister Ida, who is now expecting a baby, needs help.

– Mia, you have already been on maternity leave, that’s enough, now my sister is pregnant, I need to help Ida, so come to work. I’ve made a deal: Ida will sit with our son, – my husband Fred said it to me quite seriously.

I was just in a stupor from such a proposal. He believes that I urgently need to come out of maternity leave, because otherwise he will not be able to help his sister, who will soon give birth to a second child. And the fact that I want to enjoy motherhood as much as possible, since it is my first child, does not interest my beloved. Besides, Fred says that I think only about myself.

I gave birth to my son a year ago. I went on maternity leave from my normal job, they are waiting for me there, but they are not in a hurry to leave. I immediately warned everyone that I would stay with the child until the end, until the age of three. We were preparing for the baby for a long time, and I enjoyed motherhood. I thought about the second child, but now I don’t know. I don’t know anything at all now, I even doubt that our marriage has a future.

When I went on maternity leave, we had everything calculated, and we had enough for everything. We have no mortgage, no loans either, so my husband’s earnings were quite enough for our family. But there was a sudden factor X – my husband’s sister Ida.

We did not communicate with her, because she always repelled me with her infantilism and helplessness. She seems to be smart, but she just chose a convenient model of behavior. Until recently, she had a husband with whom she had a child. They did not get married, because: “well, what will this stamp in your passport change”. The child has a dash in the father column, Ida is a single mother. Well, they lived and lived, they did not touch us. I was already on maternity leave with my son when my husband said that he would become an uncle again. My sister is pregnant again! Well and good, let them grow up healthy.

Well, recently Ida’s husband took off in an unknown direction, leaving her five months pregnant with a two-year-old child in her arms. Is it beautiful? Yes, she is. The mother-in-law, of course, rushed to help her daughter. She took her to live with her, feeds her, gives her water. But her salary is not very rich, and there are two more mouths to feed with the prospect of a third. My husband was also forced to join this outrage.

No one asked me, but I did not arrange conflicts. I had to help. We had enough money. And the other day Fred told me that he had calculated and came to the conclusion that I need to come out of maternity leave.

– I can not carry it all myself, and my sister needs help. She is alone with two children. And my mother is not strong. So, I talked to her, Ida will sit with our son, she will still babysit, and we will pay her for it. You will come out of the maternity leave, you will be earning normally. The proposal is on the verge of genius.

– And why should I throw my little child to a strange aunt to please your sister and get into a yoke? Did I make a baby for her to pay off like that?” I was angry.

– We are family, they are my relatives, we have to help each other – he said.

– But I don’t remember that your mother or sister helped us with anything! I was called an egoist who does not want to understand anyone but herself. Let me suggest another option: your sister is going to give birth any week now. Let your mother go on maternity leave, and Ida goes to work. How about that?

– What will she earn there? She has neither a smart profession, nor experience. She won’t be able to compare with your salary!” – Fred explained to me, as if he was completely naive, or he thinks I am.

And I do not understand and am not going to think why I have to drag his sister and get rid of the legitimate earned decree. I put Fred in front of the fact that I am not going to go anywhere. I do not need it. And if he insists, then let him pack his things and go to his mother to dance to the tune of Ida. The apartment is mine, I got it from my grandmother, so I’ll manage somehow.

– And what will you live on if I leave? – the man asked caustically.

– My mother will stay with my grandson, and I will go to work. But I will work for myself and my child, not for your sister!

Fred, twirling his finger at his temple, said that he did not see the difference if I came out of maternity leave both ways. Only in case of his plan we will not quarrel and will be together. And I don’t care: he put his Ida and her interests above mine and our son’s. And I will not accept his conditions.

Is it worth it to save the family? I also need to consult with my mother: I wonder what she will say about all this.
