Martin met his love at a school New Year’s party in the 10th grade. Their classmate Nancy was visiting her cousin Barbara. The girls came to the holiday together. Martin fell in love with the blue-eyed beauty at first sight. Then they danced a lot and had fun talking to each other and their classmates. At the end of the party Martin offered to walk Barbara home. Since she liked the boy, Barbara agreed.
They walked slowly down the street and talked cheerfully. There were many topics that interested both of them. For example, love for the exact sciences. Barbara and Martin had long approached her house, but the interesting topics did not end. They would have talked for a long time if Nancy had not called her sister home. Having agreed to meet tomorrow at the skating rink, the young people parted.
Martin walked, not noticing anyone or anything. He was in the clouds, dreaming, imagining himself and Barbara as husband and wife. And he did not notice that he was crossing the street on red. The car… The impact… The driver carefully picked up the guy, gently put him in the car and brought him to the hospital. Martin was admitted to the hospital with an open fracture of the leg. Already lying in the ward, he overheard the conversation of doctors. And that he might remain lame. The next day he was visited by Nancy with Max and Barbara.
– “Martin, does it hurt?” she asked taking the boy’s hand.
– When you are near, it does not hurt at all, – he answered.
They parted agreeing on the next visit. During the next round Martin asked the doctor:
– Will I really remain lame?
– The answer is yes – I tried to, putting your leg back together. When we remove the cast, it will be clear. Then we will solve the problem.
Martin stayed in the hospital for a month. All this time he called Barbara every day. At discharge, the doctor said that the bones and muscles had fused properly. He gave a lot of recommendations for physical exercises and added:
– If you follow the recommendations, the limp will not remain. It all depends on you.
Martin trained hard and his recovery was successful… After graduation Martin and Barbara got married.
