Once, when Laura was working in the garden, she felt sick and fainted. Fortunately, the neighbors noticed her in time and called an ambulance. In the hospital Laura was visited only by her adopted daughter Jessica. She stayed with her stepmother for two weeks, paid for her treatment and got her back on her feet.
Jessica lost her parents when she was only 2 years old. The girl was to be sent to an orphanage, but the large Laura family, having learned about what happened, said they would take the girl:
– Where there are 5, there are 6, – the father of the family said.
Jessica was accepted very well. She never felt that she was not a native child. But “good” people are everywhere, and the girl soon learned that she was adopted. The same day, when she came home, the girl asked Laura to tell her everything she needed to know. Laura told her everything… After that conversation Jessica fell in love with Laura even more.
Years later, the children grew up, flew the nest, started their own families and gave Laura grandchildren. Jessica went to school, started working, and regularly sent money to her family.
When Laura was hospitalized, Jessica was the only child who visited her. At home Laura hugged Jessica, then fell to her knees and thanked her for everything her daughter had done for her.
– Mom, you gave me life. I could not leave you.
After this incident, no one in the village stuttered about the fact that Jessica is not Laura’s own daughter.
