Kelly was 40 years old, but she felt all 30. She was strong and independent, but lonely. She managed to reach great heights in her career. Kelly earned good money, so that it was enough to travel with friends, to restaurants and expensive things. But her mother was constantly bothering her with her questions “when are you going to have grandchildren, when are you going to get married, and time is passing”.
Kelly was not going to give birth at all, the thought of a child scared her. After all, it was necessary to change her whole life, the whole daily routine, Kelly was not ready for such sacrifices. Her mother was pushing her more and more, so Kelly decided that it would be better if she moved to a separate apartment, especially since she had already accumulated the necessary amount of money. Kelly moved in safely and made a new friend, Iris, a single mother.
One day Iris came to Kelly in the middle of the day:
– “Kelly, I need your help urgently. I need to go to the village, help my mother move home from the hospital, arrange everything for her, and leave the child with no one. All relatives are busy, look after my Tony, I’ll do anything you want later.
Kelly did not even have time to find an adequate excuse, she had to agree to take Tony for two days. The boy was only three years old, he did not speak, sat silently on the floor. And then Tony began to cry, but not like all children screaming non-stop, but bitterly crying. Kelly did not know what to do with him at first. She seemed to feed him, and took him to the toilet … what does he need?
And then it came to her – the baby was just scared without his mother. Kelly hugged the child tightly, and began to tell him “don’t be afraid, baby, I’m here, everything is fine”. The boy calmed down and leaned closer to Kelly. And then the woman felt some warmth inside her.
Two days passed unnoticed, she walked with Tony, went to children’s stores, played with him, and on the last day it was even a pity to give him back to Iris. Kelly wondered if she needed a baby now, or if it was only good for a couple of days.
