My girlfriend Monika lost her parents early on. She was not yet seventeen when she started living alone with her younger brother in her arms. She had to quit her studies and go to work.
She had to live for something and support her brother. Their mother had lost them. Monika knows nothing about her father. Only that he once left them for another woman.
Monika had a hard time in life. She worked hard and was away from home all the time. She held two jobs. It’s scary to imagine how she felt. But Monika could not do otherwise.
She worked as a waitress in a local cafe, and in the evening she ran to clean the pharmacy. She was spinning as fast as she could.
And then Monika was fired from her job. The girl was left alone in the middle of the street and strangers. Caring people helped Monika find her father. And as it turned out, he worked in the company of a good friend of mine. He had a good position before that. Monika just wanted to find at least one of her family members. When she came to her father, he said he didn’t want to hear anything and threw her out the door.
That’s when I offered to help. Monika moved in with me, and we rented an apartment for her younger brother.
When I found out that my girlfriend’s father worked for my friend’s company, we didn’t hesitate long. My friend fired him. It turns out that Monika’s father was not that far away all this time. He was wealthy and had a good job, but he was not interested in the fate of his children, who were left alone. What kind of person is he, so cruel? And yet strangers help each other!
Monika, when she learned about her father’s dismissal, asked him to return to work, because people are already having a hard time. I think he got what he deserved. Isn’t that what family members do?
I hope that at least this will teach him a lesson. And the man will understand what it is like to live in hardship.
