The woman’s son is 35 years old. He is a successful career politician, an important boss in a prestigious company, but his wife has achieved far greater heights. Although she is ten years older than her husband, she had no time to give birth. Motherhood was not part of her plans.
Emma’s sister-in-law tried to prove to everyone that she was succeeding, so she was afraid of losing her time. The spouses helped each other, of course, but they rarely saw each other at home. Each was busy with work. They bought apartments, cars, villas, but there was no happiness in their home.
Emma already thought she would not have any grandchildren. She was used to housekeepers in her son’s apartment, holidays in restaurants, and expensive gifts, except that she felt sorry for her son all the time.
And suddenly she heard the news that her daughter-in-law was pregnant. 40 years old, and she decided to give birth at an old age. Only all the family young lady immediately warned that she will not be a domestic sheep – it is necessary to look for a nanny.
– Daughter-in-law did not leave the office until the birth. My water broke right at the meeting. And the phone was beeping all the time in the maternity ward. I thought she would go straight to the office after discharge – says the new-found grandmother.
My daughter-in-law was overcome by hormones. She was literally shaking over her son – even slept the first nights she was afraid not to miss the moment when the baby woke up. Then she got into a rhythm and calmed down. She walked herself, she fed herself, her grandmother would not even let her grandchild near her.
When her daughter-in-law stopped feeding her son, she immediately brought up the issue of her going back to work. She filed this information under the pretext that her deputy is not coping with professional duties, and the business is falling apart before her eyes. Nanny she was looking for a long time for her son, because she could not fully trust a stranger. And then she offered her mother-in-law to babysit the baby for money – and that she agreed.
So Emma became the nanny of her own 9-month-old grandson. For the first month everything went smoothly. My daughter-in-law was fine, and my grandmother didn’t complain.
– On weekends I rested, and the children took care of my grandson. Only sometimes my daughter-in-law would call and ask them to help out if there was any emergency. And then she fired the housekeeper and started asking me to clean and cook. For a fee, of course. But with a newborn baby it was hard to cope with everything, – says Emma.
One day my daughter-in-law came home at lunchtime and saw her son not in his crib but in the playpen in the kitchen. Her mother-in-law was washing the refrigerator at the time. She left the boy here on purpose, so she wouldn’t have to run to the bedroom on the second floor all the time.
– Didn’t you go for a walk? Why is he in the playpen and not in the crib? – My daughter-in-law got indignant.
– The refrigerator smells so bad, I don’t want to open it anymore. The baby will sleep, and then we’ll go outside.
– I don’t understand why I’m paying you so much money. I need my baby to be fed, healthy and well-groomed. And you can wash the fridge at another time.
The next day the housekeeper showed up at her son’s apartment again. But my daughter-in-law began to carefully monitor whether her mother-in-law observes the daily routine, whether she keeps enough care for the child, does not hurt him. She clung to Emma for every snot and broken knee.
– She probably hired a housekeeper to spy on me. She also put cameras all over the apartment. I was even afraid to go to the bathroom, because they pay me! – complained the pensioner.
After another hearing, the grandmother said that she was quitting. Fed up with it, that she is chased like a schoolgirl. Let them hire a nanny and make her pay for it. The daughter-in-law began to accuse her relative, and to flood her with nasty words and insult her.
Emma did quit, but she hasn’t been allowed to see her grandson since. And now her son is on his wife’s side, blaming his mother for everything.
– I’m not a robot! I feel sorry for both my son and grandson, but I’m not going to bend to my daughter-in-law,” the woman commented.
They change their nannies like gloves – no one can stand such picking on them. If my daughter-in-law immediately apologized to her mother-in-law, maybe she would have changed her mind. But now there is no going back.
