I went into labor on Laugh Day and my spouse thought I was trying to play a joke on him

We all love a fun holiday like Laugh Day. Each of us tries on this day to play jokes on their loved ones, because it is not for nothing on this holiday, each of us keeps an ear to the ground so as not to get caught in someone else’s joke. My spouse also liked to joke on this day, maybe that’s why he did not believe me when I was taken away by the ambulance to the hospital.

In fact, my labor was supposed to start seven days later. After I walked my spouse to work, I took care of household chores. At lunchtime, my lower back started to tug and my stomach got stony from time to time. When I realized that I was having contractions I got really scared and called my mother and only then the ambulance.

Why didn’t I tell my husband right away? Well, it’s very simple, the husband that morning had to go to a distant object and so he would get home for several hours, and I did not want him to rush home excited. I didn’t want to disrupt my spouse’s work, especially since there was no way he was going to help with the birth. When they brought me to the hospital, the doctor examined me and told me that the labor was going well and that I would be a mom today. Only after I was transferred to the prenatal room did I call my husband and tell him:

– “Honey, I’m in labor, the doctor said I have to give birth today.
– Happy Laughter Day to you too, honey! – laughed his spouse. – Your due date is April 8, so I’m not falling for your joke. I have to be late at work today because our supplier didn’t deliver the building materials on time. Don’t wait up and go to bed without me. I love you. – My husband told me and hung up.

I was confused, my contractions even stopped for a few minutes. My spouse thought that this was how I decided to play a joke on him. At first I was offended at my husband, but then I got mad at him and my contractions got stronger. I thought about it and decided that I wouldn’t call my husband again and asked my mother not to tell my son-in-law either.

My husband realized something was wrong when he came home after 10 p.m. and I wasn’t there. He started calling me, but I was in the delivery room at that moment and there was no way I could answer him. I called my husband at midnight, after our son was born, to tell him that he had a boy who was four inches tall and weighed four kilograms. I learned from my husband that my mother hadn’t told him either, so he only found out that I was in labor after he reached the delivery room himself. The spouse apologized profusely and promised that he would always trust me. That’s the kind of April Fool’s surprise I gave my spouse.

How did your husband react to the news that you went into labor?
