From the first meeting I did not get along with my mother-in-law. Gloria is just a bossy woman, she wants everyone to run around her and do her bidding. Of course, I did not dance to her tune, I also have a wayward character.

The fact is that other daughters-in-law – Miranda and Olivia, always try to please Gloria, run after her like servants. Sometimes it is even funny to watch. A few months ago, my mother-in-law had a name day and she invited everyone to visit. I did not want to go until the last moment, but Michael persuaded me.
– You know, children, I urged you for a reason. Recently I looked at the apartment – and here is such old furniture, rusty plumbing, the floor creaks, the roof leaks. In short, we need to make repairs. Do not worry, I have already found masters, chosen the design. I just need you to chip in some money. And it will be a great birthday present for me – Gloria smiles.
Oh, it’s so hospitable, I even choked on water after such a statement. It is not difficult for me to help with the repair, but now we do not have extra money, because only Michael works in the family, I am 8 months pregnant. And clothes and toys for kids are very expensive now. Gloria has never come to us with gifts for the future grandchild, it is good that my parents abroad send us money and things.
– Gloria, I’m sorry, but we can’t afford to throw money around like that. Moreover, I am pregnant now, we need to prepare for the baby.
I noticed how my daughters-in-law started whispering about something, and my mother-in-law looked at me sideways:
– “Listen, I am not asking for money from you personally, but from my son. Don’t I deserve a simple repair in my old age? You can have even ten children, I do not forbid you.
Here Miranda and Olivia began to giggle sarcastically. And I couldn’t stand it:
– I don’t care who you ask. Your son is my husband, and he will soon have a child. We would rather buy toys and clothes for the baby than spend money on your repairs. So I repeat once again – we will not give money. And do not invent new reasons, we are tired of your circus. If you need it, go and take a loan from a bank or borrow from your friends.
– And what a greedy girl you are, aren’t you ashamed to refuse an old woman?” – Miranda tried to shame me, but I quickly rebuff such insolent people.
– And you shut your mouth. If you are so rich, then pay for everything yourself, and I will not give a penny.
Then I got up from the table and left. The only person who supported me in this situation was my husband Michael. And Gloria that same evening told all the relatives what a bad daughter-in-law I was.
And then she refused to come to the discharge and forbade her daughters-in-law to come as well. Now my son is 3 months old, but none of my husband’s family has seen him yet. Everyone refuses to come to visit. And Gloria even said that now Michael is a stranger to her. And all because we refused to give her money.
Most of all in this situation I feel sorry for Michael. That’s how it turned out – money is more important to the mother than her grandson and son.
