I want to tell you the story of how I found a wonderful husband. It all started with the most common joke. My friends, who had been married for a long time and were very happy, decided that I should get married too. I had been living alone for a long time. For some reason my relationships with men did not work out.
So one day my friends and I were sitting at my house. We were drinking tea, eating cake and talking about everything. And then one of my friends suggested that I register on a dating site and write to a man. So we did. Just for fun, of course.
And Adam responded to me. We began to correspond. Everything was very simple and innocent. Adam immediately admitted to me that he was writing to me from a place of incarceration. I did not go into detail. We just talked and that’s all. Then I kept in touch with Adam on my own. But soon I stopped the correspondence, but I wrote in my last letter that I would wait for him.
So two months had passed. Of course, I had even forgotten about this correspondence. Then one day someone rang at the door of my apartment. I opened the door and saw a young man standing on the threshold of my apartment. He smiled and said my first and last name.
– Do we know each other? – I was surprised.
– We do know each other, in absentia! – the guy answered me.
He reminded me of our correspondence and my last words that I would wait for him. I felt very uncomfortable in front of him. I didn’t tell Adam that it was just a joke. I invited him to his apartment and offered to have tea. I don’t know why I did that. I let a complete stranger into my apartment. For some reason he instantly gave me confidence.
We sat down to tea. But at first the conversation did not click, but then we got to talking. Adam turned out to be a very interesting person to talk to. He told me about his life, his childhood and his parents. Of course, he also told me about why he was in prison. Just out of stupidity and gullibility.
And while he was in prison, his wife divorced him, sold her apartment, and moved away. That’s why Adam was left all alone and without an apartment. He didn’t try to make a pity play. He just said:
– I’m sorry, of course, for my insolence. Couldn’t you let me stay at your place? Just for a month. While I get a job and find a place to live. I won’t be a burden! I’ll help you with everything. I can do a lot of things with my hands. I can fix anything for you.
I decided to take a risk. I said yes, and I decided to help Adam. I let him stay at my dacha. It was springtime. So I asked Adam to clean up my dacha.
He agreed. The next day I took him to my dacha and showed him where everything was. Then I left for the city. When my friends found out about it they scolded me very much for my action. I came to the dacha a week later and just didn’t recognize it. It was in perfect order. I was very happy when I saw it. And Adam said he even got a job. It turned out that he had been hired as a security guard at our dacha village.
I started coming to the dacha every weekend. And soon Adam and I realized that we were in love with each other. Soon he and I were married. We’re doing very well. I have never once regretted that I took a risk and let a stranger into my apartment, my dacha and into my life…
