I did not want to believe in my fiancé’s selfishness. But one incident showed me his true face

I am thirty-two years old. All my life I have dreamed of having my own home, and I have worked hard to achieve this. For several years I was working abroad, and then I returned home and got a good job here. This is how I managed to achieve my dream of buying a house. Everything in my life began to improve. Two years ago, I met my husband. I immediately liked his good manners and caring attitude.

Mark is a creative person. He paints pictures. I always watch this process with admiration. We often visit various exhibitions. In addition, my chosen one works as a taxi driver. Mark proposed to me, and the question arose as to where we would live together. After we got married, we moved into my apartment, and that’s when I suggested that Mark quit his job and devote himself to his art. He immediately agreed to my proposal. My husband was very happy about it. The only thing was that I always asked Mark to keep the house tidy.

Before that, he attended classes at an art studio. One day I met a friend on the street who attended the same classes as Mark. He told me that my husband had been absent several times and that he did not pick up the phone. I decided to ask Mark directly about the reason for his behavior, and he replied that he was suffering from creative burnout. After he said that, I gave him a week to find a new job during which time he would find a new job. He replied that he would do so in the near future.

A month passed and Mark still hadn’t found a job. I learned from his friends that he didn’t even try to look for something because he has a rich wife. He also hoped that I would sign over my apartment to him.

I didn’t want to believe it, so I decided to check Mark. I asked a friend to make fake documents where my husband was supposedly the owner of the apartment.

Then I came to him and told him the news. Mark was very happy, but he assured me that it was not necessary to do this, he loved me even without these formalities.

I pretended to believe him. All the following days I watched him. For a while, he was really just perfect – he cooked meals, arranged romantic evenings. But I could tell by his look that he was up to something.

And I was not mistaken. One night I came home from work and saw suitcases with my things under the door. I asked Mark what was going on, and he told me that we were getting a divorce. Since he owns the apartment, I have to move out. Then he added that he would file for divorce tomorrow.

I decided to play along. I pretended to be very upset, and then went to spend the night at my friend’s house.

The next day, Mark went to file for divorce and was stunned. He found out the whole truth. Then my ex came to me and began to apologize. But I didn’t want to hear anything else. I told Mark to pack his things and disappear from my life.

I’m even glad it happened that way. It’s better to be disappointed once than to live the rest of my life with such a selfish person.
