I devoted my whole life to raising my son and daughter, and they grew up so ungrateful

Monika and her husband were about to celebrate their thirty-second wedding anniversary when Frank suddenly passed away. The woman had a hard time dealing with the loss of her husband. Since then, Monika has been living alone in a two-story house. But she did not like this life. “I don’t want to live alone in this empty palace.” So Monika decided to take an important step. She decided to sell her house and buy a one-room apartment. And so she did.

Then she sold her husband’s car, which was sitting idle anyway. The children had their own families and cars. Now Monika had a one-room apartment and a considerable amount of money. She had to do something with this money, so Monika decided to travel the world. It’s boring to be alone in the house, and this way she will see the world and meet people. So she took the plunge and bought a plane ticket.

Monika decided to fly to Italy. She had long dreamed of going there, so she stayed in Italy for a while to work. She cleaned hotels. The job was not too hard, and she had to work only five hours a day. The money she earned was enough for living and entertainment. Six months passed like that. Monika got bored and bought tickets to fly to another country. So she traveled all over Europe.

The next countries were Africa and Asia. It was a good experience. In addition to having fun, Monika found work everywhere and earned good money. During these travels, she met a lot of people, learned the mentality and customs of the countries. Four years passed in this way. Her daughter had already gotten married and had a baby. And her daughter-in-law was pregnant.

When Monika returned, she became a grandmother. She invited her entire family to visit. They hadn’t seen each other for a long time, so they had a lot to talk about. During this time, her son grew up, and her daughter became even more feminine. Suddenly, in the middle of the conversation, the son said:

– “Mom, we wanted to put you in a nursing home.

Monika was very surprised. Her own children wanted to put her in a nursing home. She devoted her best years to them and raised them.

Her daughter immediately noticed the change in her mother’s face:

– “No, you misunderstood us. We don’t want you to leave us. We are just worried about how you will live alone in a one-room apartment. And there are a lot of lonely people like you out there.
– But I was planning to go to Italy,” Monica replied.
– “Mom, where are you going? You’re old,” her mother persuaded her daughter.

Monica was sad. Her own children don’t want her to travel the world. What kind of drama is this? The woman began to ask her children to buy her a house where she could plant a garden and look after her grandchildren, instead of living in a nursing home. But no one wanted to listen to her. The children thought she would be much better off there.

Monika realizes that maybe she will be fine there, but traveling… She has just started to enjoy life, and here the children want to deprive her of this feeling.
Or maybe it’s Monica’s fault that the kids want to do this to her? Who knows…
