I called the police because we heard strange noises coming from our sofaour dog had warned us. When the officers arrived, they discovered something horrifying.
I never wouldve believed such an ordinary day could turn into a nightmare straight out of a horror film.
That evening, my wife and I were quietly sitting in the lounge. Our dog, Alfie, was pacing nervously around the sofa, growling and barking in an odd way. At first, we thought it was just a whim or a reaction to some outside noise. But soon, his persistence began to unsettle us.
When we listened closely, I heard loud, muffled thumps coming from inside the sofa. There were rustling sounds, as if somethingor someonewas trying to break free. My heart raced like mad.
Could it be a trapped rodent? A wild animal that had sneaked into the house? The mere thought sent shivers down my spine. With Alfies growing agitation and our own unease, we finally decided to call the police.
A few minutes later, two officers knocked on the door. We explained the situation, almost embarrassed to be bothering them over what mightve seemed like a silly fright.
But as they neared the sofa, they heard the same eerie noises we had. After a quick discussion, they decided to cut open the upholstery.
A heavy, tense silence hung in the air as the fabric tore under their knife. And then the discovery.
When the sofas fabric split open, the rooms air seemed to freeze.
The officers paused for a moment before one shot a serious glance at the other. Wedged between the foam and wooden frame was a scrawny kitten, trembling in fear.
I couldnt believe my eyes. How could a creature like that have gotten trapped inside?
One of the officers carefully pulled it out, and the poor thing let out a weak but piercing mewl. Alfie, our dog, calmed down at once and cautiously approached, as if to check the kitten was alright.
Later, we learned the sofawhich wed bought second-hand just days beforemustve already had the animal inside when it was delivered. The seller had no idea, and the kitten, terrified, had been unable to escape on its own.
