I love my son dearly, and from the moment he was born, Ive done everything in my power to give him the very best.
Together with my wife, weve always tried to make his wishes come true. Hes always been dressed in the finest clothes, gone to paid hobby classes, and even though he had everything he wanted, he always respected both me and his mother.
I work all hours, day and night, to support our son, but I dont mind at all. I always make time for him whenever he needs me.
Hes always been a great lad, and I knew sooner or later hed take an interest in girls. My wife and I were prepared for that day, and it arrived sooner than we expected! We welcomed his new girlfriend with open arms, despite his young age. The only thing we asked was that he bring her round for dinner with us. He had no issue with that request and even offered to invite her over the next time we saw each other.
My wife liked the idea as well. We felt confident hed chosen a good girl, but we wanted to meet her ourselves and be sureafter all, hes still a young man.
When my son introduced us to his new girlfriend, I was caught off guard. At first, she seemed lovelypolite and friendly. But as we got to know her better, I realised she was nothing but a liar and a cheat. She had a mean streak and clearly didnt care about anyone but herself.
I work for the police, and I remembered thered been suspicion around this girl regarding fraud. She would meet lads online, claim she was an orphan, take money from them, and then disappear with no trace. There were quite a few boys shed duped on her record.
I told my son everything I knew about what had happened, but he wouldnt believe me. He started shouting, insisting Id made everything up just to ruin his happiness. Then he packed his things and moved in with his girlfriend.
We havent heard from our son in a month now. I cant help but wonder if Ive made a mistakemaybe his girlfriend really has changed, or perhaps someone set her up.
